Having expressed a long-standing fixation upon the store within art, most specifically the store window: a mode of framing the work which plays on the desirable and seductive qualities which drive fashion and material commodities. I identified the setting as an ideal space to present my work, through enabling me to appropriate the language and aspirational aesthetics of consumer culture in order to further explore the influence and value of consumer goods within society.
This acknowledgment of how I should most effectively go on to frame and present the work was one which subsequently began to shape my decision making in regards to the construction of the garment itself. Whilst opening my mind up to alternative modes of displaying my work, I saw potential to further explore the language between art and commodity, as well as the influence and value of consumer goods within society.
